Sunrise atop the Continental Divide, Monteverde, Provincia de Puntarenas, Costa Rica
A group of us took the trek up to the Divide to sleep beneath the frigid heavens for Jared’s Birthday, Cheeto/Nathaniel in tow all the way to the top! Wine, snacks, and stories were passed around for an hour or so before descending into a less-than-comfortable pseudo-sleep, simply too cold to get much of any rest in.
A few hours later, we awoke to one of the most brilliant sunrises I had ever seen, made all the more meaningful by the people, no, friends, that were with me. I’ve decided to amend my Bucket List Item from “See the Sunrise on Every Continent” to “See the Sunrise on Every Continent with Friends”. It’s hard to describe what this feeling was, but somehow being at the nexus of two colliding geological forces, eternally dancing, I could feel the gravity of the world hinged upon this delicate thought.
We bounded back down the mountain around 6 AM, Slaty-back Nightingale Thrushes harmonizing every blessed shoeprint sunk into the dew-kissed soil (we had a midterm to take, go figure). The moleskin I have been haphazardly scribing these notes in is soaked through; growing heavy, heavy with moisture and memories.

PS. Kim came, and course, brought only one thin sheet and wore short shorts. Oh Keem…you’ll never cease to please us.
