Today I talked to one of the chefs / laundry ladies at the Estacion, Luisa, about her house and her family. It felt so nice to be able to converse semi-comfortably in Spanish, and she was just about the sweetest woman you could ever meet. The people here are just so connected to their loved ones, to the planet, to each other, it’s like they understand everything so much better than we do. Or perhaps we do understand it, but we never practice what we preach. Things just get swept up in the expediency of living that we forget to breathe - how backwards is that?
Here’s a slideshow that my friend Kim put together! She takes some phenomenal pictures, but perhaps the most stirring thought is to know that these pictures can’t even touch the visceral, soul-carving gravity of the scenes in real life. Monteverde is the closest thing to purity I’ve ever felt.
